This skull was made from a very rough piece of Spinel that had a lot of fractures all over it. But I thought there was a gorgeous stone beneath the fractures and I was right. I kept the cool triangular formations as growths framing the skull and shaped the piece so the fractures wouldn’t cause any structural issues. The blue in this is really deep, like the depths of the ocean, and beautiful in the light. This is a hard one to take pics of, as it looks so much smoother in person.
Our own skull is made from the bones of Earth and ancient stardust. Working with a skull made from stone is a powerful connection to our innate protection and magick.
While my Skull Talismans can be carried or displayed, they are made from specific stones that I identify as having strong magickal resonance and put aside specifically to carve into a magickal talismans.
About Blue Spinel:
I’ve been really getting into Spinel recently and I love these blue specimens from Madagascar. Many Rubies and Sapphires through history turned out to be Spinel. The famous Black Prince’s Ruby in the British Imperial State Crown and the Timur Ruby are both actually Spinels.
When you look at the rich saturation combined with the triangular growth in this Blue Spinel, it’s easy to see where the confusion comes in.
I find these to be gently energizing yet calming and helpful with mental stamina, particularly when it comes to sustaining psychic headspace and dream states. These stones contain the blue of the deep, wild, open ocean.
