Heliotrope Bloodstone
Wow. There’s a couple types of Bloodstone’s but this African Bloodstone (or Heliotrope) is the most stunning. Gorgeous Green Chalcedony with scarlet Red Jasper streaks, frequently with translucent spots and bits of Pyrite in it. This stone has a long cross-cultural history and is extraordinarily protective.
In Biblical mythology, the red in Bloodstone was said to come from drops of Jesus’ blood and it was known as the martyrs stone. Pliny the Elder documented it as a stone of invisibility. Ancient Babylonians turned it into amulets. It was believed to heal blood disorders amongst other maladies. Roman soldiers consecrated Bloodstones to Mars and wore it into battle. Medieval Knights embedded it into armor. Ayurvedic healers ground it into powder to use for healing. Ancient Egyptians used it for divination and for battle.
What I’m saying is that there’s such a rich history with this stone some magical effect is practically guaranteed when you work with it. You need this in your collection or toolkit.
