The K2 stone gets its name from the K2 mountain, which is the 2nd highest mountain in the world after Mount Everest. Why? Well that’s the only place this stone is found and mined! That’s pretty cool in its own right.

But the composition of the stone is super interesting. The base of it is a crystallized granite composed of feldspar and quartz and the blue is Azurite, which is a copper based mineral often found near Malachite.

The K2 mountain is considered much more treacherous than Everest, making this stone a rarity based on location and ease of access alone.
