Orpiment Sphere

$120.00

Note: Even though this is a polished piece, Orpiment does contain arsenic and should be handled with care.

Orpiment is a brilliantly bright crystal that’s very soft - around 1.5 on the Mohs scale (a logarithmic hardness scale for stones with Diamond being a 10 and Chalk being 1-2). Orpiment is soft enough to be cut with a knife which makes it a great candidate for dyes and pigments; Orpiment was the source of a pigment used in ancient Egypt and Persia called King’s Yellow or Royal Yellow.

Before you go swirling up an Orpiment paint, know that it is an Arsenosulfide. Orpiment is basically arsenic, one of the most famous poisons on Earth.

Energetically, it’s an incredibly powerful stone. One of the strongest alchemical and self-transformation stones I’ve ever experienced. I liken it to a fiery Moldavite. It helps with changing times, and is full of the Sun and Fire and links to divinity. It’s a near perfect stone for the times we’re in, and it’s gorgeous.

I attribute its effectiveness to similar principles of how venom is used to heal by creating an anti-venom. Toxic minerals and stones process the toxic parts of ourselves.

Polished Orpiment can be safely handled for meditation or other purposes and put out for display.  To be safe, don’t grind it, don’t place it in overly humid environments, don’t lick it, and keep it away from kids and pets.

I’ve found Orpiment to be a most valuable companion for spellwork and my personal Orpiment sphere has a permanent place in my toolkit. If you do any inner heat work, try it with Orpiment.
