The earthy grounding of Serpentine works really well as a sphere stand.
The back of this stand is left rough and the front is shaped and polished to bring out the interesting banding of this stone. After polishing I drilled a hole and inserted a brass alloy holder.
This is a very sturdy stand. I put it through a shake test with a variety of spheres and it held strong each time.
