Stromatolite - Hand-carved In-house

Stromatolites are extraordinary earth-healing stones that promote past-life recall, grounding, and healing for cultures and communities. If you find yourself weighed down by others’ expectations, these stones can help you release that.

Stromatolites are evidence of life on Earth 3.5 billion years ago. Colonies of photosynthetic bacteria and algae clump together, sediment settles on them, some of the bacteria climb through the sediment to reach the sunlight, more sediment settles on them and rinse and repeat.

The end result is this banded layer of ancient organic life and ancient earth. Stromatolites come in a few different forms, but this clear banding with hints of red, pink, and green within the shades of brown is something I rarely come across. I’ve been sitting on these pieces for a year now, and decided to carefully shape and polish them, bringing out wonderful patterns in this powerful healing stone.
