Carribean Calcite Tumble Stones
Caribbean Calcite is a composite of a light blue calcite and brown and white aragonite, that was discovered in 2019. At this point, it’s only been found in one place in Pakistan and it’s expected to be mined out within a few years.
Because it contains Blue Aragonite, it shares many of the same stabilizing properties. However, given that calcite is generally a wonderful cleansing stone, Caribbean Calcite carries more a cleansing feel to it than Blue Aragonite. Calcite and Aragonite are the basically composed of the same mineral - Calcium Carbonate - but they have different crystal and crystal lattice structures, with calcite possessing a trigonal structure and aragonite an orthorhombic one.
How closely related are these minerals? Calcium carbonate forms into calcite, but in sea water it forms into aragonite.
Word has it that this is also a great ADHD stone, though I haven’t checked it against my own ADHD yet.
These tumbles are big, and each one is unique. Some have little druzy caves, some had a gem-like sheen. The brown aragonite banding adds a grounding feel to these.
To me there’s something almost snake-like in the transformational quality of this stone. It’s a stone of out-growing and shedding, and makes an excellent meditation partner. Like many calcites, it’s often UV reactive. Despite its recent discovery, there’s something ancient about these stones.
While I actually see Caribbean Calcite around more than Blue Aragonite, I really don’t see tumbles of these around too much. Given that, the lack of mining locations, and the size of these tumbles, seize the chance to grab one of these. Caribbean Calcite is starting to get faked out there more and more, with blue tinged quartz often sold as it. This is the real deal and I’ve set these at a really great price for what they are.
